In June of 2008, the church began asking God for an open door in the community of Mt. Comfort/McCordsville. One of the obstacles facing new churches is where they can meet for worship. God provided for this new church though, leading them to a building that was previously used as a pro-shop/clubhouse for a driving range and par 3 golf course. The property had been sold to the Meijer Corporation for the future construction of a Meijer store. After a few email contacts, LSCC received an offer to lease the building rent-free in exchange for maintenance and upkeep of the grounds! God answered the prayers of His people with a place to meet in the middle of a bustling community of people. The “Meijer Miracle Building” is now a church and since opening the doors to the community on October 12, 2008, God has provided for our every need.
A building remodel took place in the summer of 2009 that allowed for more worship space. In 2011, the Streamers took their biggest step of faith and added on 1600 sq ft. to the building, including a new classroom for kids. Since the church didn’t own the building, our hope was in God, that He would use this place for our good and His glory while the church gained strength and laid a solid foundation to find a permanent home in this community.
In the Spring of 2015, the news came that Meijer was ready to break ground for their new store but in another answer to prayer, they wanted to figure out a way for the church to stay! By the time the dirt was being turned over in the Spring of 2016, the church had a contract with Meijer to purchase 2.11 acres and the building. The store construction project was completed in the spring of 2017. It included a new parking lot and updated utilities for the church, all for a purchase price that could only be explained by God’s grace through Meijer’s generosity.
Living Streams Community Church has found a place to call home and is now a permanent resident of McCordsville. We are hoping to have a Good Samaritan impact as we love God, love our neighbors and tell them about Jesus.
